Strands & Targets in Guidelines
This is the Target Group Menu for a group of targets from the Science Framework for Planning
Group 7 - Forces
This way for Group 8 - Plants & Animals

What are forces and what can they do?

Science - Interactive Guidelines Curriculum for Excellence - draft outcomes
CfE (Forces and Motion) (Level Early) - SCN 007L - Through everyday play with toys and from other experiences I can describe the effects of simple forces.
CfE (Forces and Motion) (Level Early) - SCN 008L - Through playing with familiar objects of different shapes and materials, I can ask questions, test out my ideas and report the findings back to my group.
CfE (Forces and Motion) (Level First) - SCN 109L - Using my results from investigations with toys or other objects, I can explore links between how far things move and the force applied.
CfE (Forces and Motion) (Level First) - SCN 110L - In my group I have explored the forces exerted by magnets and using my knowledge can create and develop a game for others to enjoy.
CfE (Forces and Motion) (Level Second) - SCN 224L - I have experienced the upward force of water on objects, and can investigate why ships float.
CfE (Topical Science) (Level First) - SCN 116BB - I have contributed to a class display of current scientific news items to help me develop an awareness of topical science.

Energy & Forces    Forces and their effects

This way for development of target EF-A3.1

Give examples of pushing and pulling, floating and sinking EF-A3.1

This way for development of target EF-B3.1

Describe the effect that a push or pull can have on the direction, speed or shape of an object EF-B3.1

This way for development of target EF-B3.2

Give examples of magnets in every day use EF-B3.2

This way for development of target EF-B3.3

Describe the interaction of magnets in terms of the forces of attraction and repulsion EF-B3.3
Future Learning (progression) - G16 Friction & Air Resistance

CfE (Forces and Motion) (Level Fourth) - SCN 424L Phys - I can design and carry out investigations into the strength of magnets. From research I can compare the properties, uses and commercial applications of electromagnets and supermagnets.
