Strands & Targets in Guidelines

This is the Target Group Menu for a group of targets from the Science Framework for Planning
Group 23  Acids & metals
This way for Group 24 - Sound & Light

Where do we come across acids & alkalis? How do we measure how acidic or alkaline something is? What happens to metals when they react with oxygen, water or acids? Metals are rarely found as elements (uncombined) in the Earth's crust - how can we extract them?
CfE (Planet Earth) (Level Third) - SCN 301A - Having carried out a variety of experiments I can recognise the significance of pH in everyday life and demonstrate ways to adjust levels appropriately.
CfE (Topical Science) (Level Third) - SCN 332BB - Through research and group discussion, I have contributed to an evaluation of a media item with regard to its scientific content.

CfE (Planet Earth) (Level Fourth) - SCN 404A (Bio/Chem) - I can monitor the environment by collecting and analysing samples. I can interpret the results to inform others about levels of pollution and express a considered opinion on how science can help protect our environment.
CfE (Topical Science) (Level Fourth) - SCN 443BB ALL - I have researched a new development in science and can show how its current or future application might impact on modern life.
CfE (Topical Science) (Level Fourth) - SCN 444BB ALL - Having selected a scientific theme of topical interest, I can critically analyse the issues, and use relevant information to develop an informed argument.
