EF-C1.4 Construct simple battery operated electrical circuits, identifying the main components
How to construct simple battery operated circuits to activate a bulb.
That bulbs connected in series with a battery give a brightness which is less than with one bulb.

1 Pupils should revise by making a list of appliances which use electricity. This will allow them to discover the many uses of electricity.
2 List objects that use batteries as source of energy.
3 Place a battery and a bulb near each other and ask pupils "How do we get the electricity from the battery to the bulb?" Investigate the responses.
Elicit the use of wires and the word circuit to describe this.
Make drawings of circuits.
4 Investigate how they might change the brightness of the bulb in a circuit.
