ES-B3.1

ES-B3.1 Describe how everyday materials can be changed by heating or cooling
Water changes from liquid to solid when it is cooled to its freezing point of 0oC

1 Suggest what will happen when some things are gently warmed and cooled. Test these predictions in a simple way. Ask: Are these changes reversible? Predict and test.
2 Make ice shapes : allow pupils to make unusual hollow shapes out of plasticine, fill with water and allow to freeze (outdoors or in a freezer). Has the water changed? How? Ask pupils to describe the changes.
