1	Set up a display of objects or identify objects within the classroom (use obvious objects). Pupils identify material used to make each object. Appropriate record produced.
2	Group to plan a play area showing the type of playthings they would include and what materials they would use to make them. Individual drawings produced.
3	Make simple observations of differences in common materials using a ‘feely box’. Record findings using words and pictures : hard/soft, wet/dry, rough/smooth, warm/cold, light/heavy, stiff/bendy.
