1	Pupils could be asked to suggest ways of making objects move more easily. Elicit: make surfaces smoother. Investigate smoothing surfaces adding lubricant. Use the term friction as often as possible.
2	Investigate on which surfaces objects slide more easily e.g. wood, vinyl and carpet etc.
3	Investigate how to reduce friction.
4	Find out why we oil bicycle chains, hinges, wheels etc.
