LT-A3.1

LT-A3.1 Recognise & name common plants & animals in the local environment
The names of some common plants species. Plants have roots, stems & leaves.

 

1 Walk around the school grounds or talk about the school or home garden.
OR
2 Study photographs of various areas where plants grow.
OR
3 Ask pupils to bring in an example of a plant which they can identify. Build up a class diagram of their favourite plants. Can they explain why this is their favourite?
4 Talk about animals and insects the children are familiar with. Look at nature books. On a simple picture of a house or school, ask the children to draw on some animals e.g. a spider, pigeon, hedgehog etc.
