LT-A1.2 Sort living things into broad groups according
to easily observable characteristics
An observation walk would allow safe collection of materials for the exercises below.

 

1 Pupils should group various sets of materials then tell/discuss with the teacher why they have grouped them in a particular way.
2 Ask pupils to bring "living" examples to school e.g. leaves, flowers, seeds
3 Choose one set of material from the "living" display e.g. seeds, flowers, leaves (or use a worksheet)
Ask pupils to divide this group into smaller groups (types).
